Kyle Davidson has been a busy man around Memorial Day weekend. On Friday, he pulled off a trade to move up in the first two rounds of the upcoming NHL Draft, and earlier on Tuesday he signed another 2023 draft pick in the form of Martin Misiak. Following the Misiak signing, another depth piece was retained for next season.

According to the Chicago Blackhawks, forward Zach Sanford has been extended for one season. Sanford tallied four assists in 18 NHL games with the Blackhawks and six points (three goals, three assists) in 13 AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs last season.

Sanford was claimed off waivers from the Arizona Coyotes in January following a gluttony of injuries. He played 11 games in the NHL with the Coyotes and 16 games in the AHL with the Tuscon Roadrunners before he was claimed by the Hawks.

Sanford will carry a $775,000 cap hit next season and is another depth piece that Davidson has locked up for next season. Early last week, the Blackhawks also locked up forward Brett Seney for next season, the IceHogs' leading point scorer from this past campaign.

The Blackhawks will likely continue their internal housekeeping over the next month. On June 28 and 29, the NHL will host the NHL Draft from The Sphere in Las Vegas, NV. Round one will be completed on the first day, while the remaining six rounds will occur on day two. The Blackhawks currently have eight picks in the upcoming draft.
