The Chicago White Sox were busy ahead of the first game of the annual Crosstown Classic. With the Chicago Cubs on the schedule for two games, star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. makes his return from the 10-day IL. Robert Jr. was on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte prior to his return.

In addition, outfielders Tommy Pham and Dominic Fletcher were placed on the IL, Zach DeLoach and Double-A farmhand Duke Ellis were recalled, and infielder Zach Remillard was designated for assignment on Tuesday.

Robert Jr.'s return to the lineup is a welcomed addition before facing the rival Cubs. The star centerfielder has owned the Cubs throughout his career, hitting .380 with 19 total hits, five home runs, 11 RBIs, and 15 runs scored in 13 games.

Tommy Pham's absence from the lineup is disappointing though. He also owns a track record of success against the North Siders, largely in his time as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition, Pham's .280/.331/.402 slash line has provided an offensive boost for the Pale Hose. Nonetheless, the trade for Robert Jr.'s health makes the absence easier to stomach.

DeLoach makes his return to the majors for his second stint with the White Sox. The 25-year-old is still searching for his first major-league hit after getting on base once via a walk in three games last time up.

As for Ellis, his offensive numbers do not jump off the page. But, as a 26-year-old prospect, the White Sox feel it is time for him to receive his first call up. In 39 Double-A games this season, Ellis is slashing .258/.341/.308 with 31 hits, 24 runs scored, 13 walks, one home run, and 11 RBIs.

Remillard was DFA'd to make room on the 40-man roster. However, there is a good chance he clears waivers and returns to Triple-A Charlotte, keeping a notable depth piece within the organization.

The first game of the two-game set at Wrigley Field begins at 7:05 p.m. CDT. RHP Chris Flexen throws for the Sox while LHP Shota Imanaga will throw for the Cubs.
