The Chicago White Sox finally snapped their franchise-record 14-game losing streak and have won back-to-back games. Sunday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox represents an opportunity for the South Siders to win their first series in nearly a month. Ahead of the game, Chicago announced a few roster moves.

Saturday's starter, Nick Nastrini, will return to Triple-A Charlotte after his second stint with the big-league club. The White Sox purchased the contract of left-handed reliever Sammy Peralta, whom they claimed off waivers two days after designating him for assignment.

Nastrini is struggling through the 2024 campaign in Triple-A and the big leagues. After a promising Spring Training, the rookie has battled command issues and currently holds an 8.39 ERA and 9.1 BB/9 over six starts with the White Sox.

Peralta returns to the organization that drafted him in the 18th round in 2019. The Seattle Mariners claimed him and assigned him to their Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma after Chicago designated him for assignment on March 28. The 26-year-old surrendered 13 runs in 12.2 innings before the Mariners designated him for assignment, at which point the White Sox claimed him .

The lefty made his Major League debut in a relief appearance against the Minnesota Twins last year in an extra-innings loss. He tossed 20 innings for the 2023 White Sox, compiling a 4.05 ERA .

In an accompanying move, the White Sox returned Shane Drohan from his rehab assignment in Triple-A Charlotte, reinstated him from the 60-day injured list , and designated him for assignment. Drohan came to the White Sox as a Rule 5 Draft pick and landed on the injured list after shoulder surgery in the spring.

The White Sox' 40-man roster is full ; however, with Nick Nastrini sent down to Charlotte, they're a starting pitcher short of a five-man rotation. Jonathan Cannon recently returned to the White Sox, and they designated Jake Woodford for assignment. Cannon is filling in for injured starter Mike Clevinger.

With Clevinger's return uncertain, manager Pedro Grifol said Drew Thorpe will make his MLB debut on Tuesday against Seattle.
