The Chicago White Sox will start a seven-game road trip with Monday's contest in Seattle after recently ending a 14-game losing streak and splitting a series with the Boston Red Sox. The club announced Monday that outfielders Tommy Pham and Andrew Benintendi, who are recovering from ankle and Achilles injuries, respectively, have been sent to Arizona for rehab assignments.

Pham's injury occurred on June 2 in Milwaukee when he sprained his left ankle while sliding into an out at home. The play led to a heated on-field exchange with the Brewers. The following day, Chicago placed him on the injured list.

The White Sox placed Benintendi on the IL on June 1 with left Achilles tendinitis. Benintendi abruptly exited that day's game against Milwaukee after belting a solo homer in the third inning.

After their series in Seattle, the Sox will visit the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game set beginning Friday. Should both players' rehab go smoothly this week, there's a chance they could rejoin the big-league club by the end of the trip.

The White Sox announced that 33-year-old catcher Max Stassi, who has yet to play in 2024, will miss the rest of the season after undergoing left hip resurfacing surgery on Friday.

Stassi came to Chicago in a December trade with the Atlanta Braves after missing the 2023 season to support his wife and their prematurely-born son. The Sox expect Stassi to be ready for Spring Training next year.

Chris Getz and Co. will continue to shuffle their roster , as they did so over the weekend. Many anticipate the White Sox will trade Tommy Pham before the July 30 deadline. The veteran outfielder has been a spark for the Sox' historically futile offense, posting a .733 OPS with three homers over 33 games.

In the second year of his franchise-record five-year, $75 million contract, Andrew Benintendi is amid the worst year of his career, slashing an abysmal .195/.230/.280 with five homers in 200 plate appearances.

Corey Julks and Oscar Colas have seen the bulk of the outfield playing time since the injuries occurred. Duke Ellis and Zach DeLoach are likely to return to minor-league affiliates when the two injured veterans return.
