Despite stellar starting pitching performances and a recent power surge, the Chicago White Sox have dropped two consecutive games against the Seattle Mariners. The White Sox have lost three in a row primarily due to dreadful relief pitching. Left fielder Andrew Benintendi's 10 days on the injured list are up, and he'll join the team Wednesday in Seattle, per Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times .

The veteran outfielder landed on the IL with left Achilles tendinitis on June 1 after an abrupt third-inning exit following a home run. Chicago sent him to Arizona for a rehab assignment on Monday. Benintendi is amid the worst year of his career, slashing an abysmal .195/.230/.280 with five homers in 200 plate appearances.

    That Was Fast

The White Sox will option Duke Ellis to the minor leagues in a corresponding move.

The speedy outfielder began the season with Double-A Birmingham, where he stole 31 bases in 39 games . He made his MLB debut pinch-running against the Chicago Cubs in the Crosstown Classic . The 26-year-old swiped four bags in as many tries in his eight-game stint with the White Sox.

    What's On Tap Next?

Andrew Benintendi's return garners little excitement as he's one of baseball's worst qualified hitters. Tommy Pham has also been playing in Arizona, and his IL stint will end Thursday. Pham sprained his ankle while sliding into home plate on June 2 in Milwaukee.

The return of the two veterans means less developmental playing time for younger names. Corey Julks has provided the Pale Hose with an offensive spark, and Oscar Colas has shown a better plate approach since being recalled.
