Bears sign veteran receiver/returner DeAndre Carter to a 1-year deal

(670 The Score) The Bears made a key addition to their special teams Tuesday by signing veteran returner DeAndre Carter to a one-year deal.

Carter, 31, broke into the NFL in 2015. He has played 94 career games since debuting in 2018.

Carter has returned 118 career kicks for an average of 22.4 yards and one touchdown. He averaged 23.8 yards per kickoff return with the Raiders in 2023. Carter has also returned 1,294 punts for an average of 9.8 yards in his career.

Carter has also served as a receiver, catching 108 passes for 1,259 yards and six touchdowns in his career. He posted a career-best 46 receptions for 538 yards and three touchdowns with the Chargers in 2022.

Carter played four games for the Bears in 2020. He'll likely be the team's primary return specialist entering the new season.
