Before Tuesday's game against the Houston Astros, Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz shared a few injury updates. Per MLB.com's Scott Merkin , outfielder Eloy Jimenez is nearing a return to the big-league club while Yoan Moncada's timeline remains in line with previous projections.

Eloy Jimenez infamously stated during Spring Training that he aspired to play 150 games alongside Yoan Moncada and Luis Robert Jr. in 2024. Those plans quickly went awry as all three suffered early-season injuries .
Jimenez's ailment, a left adductor strain, was the least significant as he was sidelined from April 2-14. However, he went back on the shelf on May 22 due to a left hamstring strain .
The 27-year-old began on the recovery track on June 13 when he joined the Arizona Complex League White Sox for a rehab assignment . Jimenez could join the White Sox for next week's homestand, per Chris Getz. When he returns to the lineup, the Dominican slugger will look to improve on his .231/.288/.381 slash line.

The White Sox have been without their starting third baseman for most of the season as Yoan Moncada suffered a painful left adductor strain on April 9. He initially landed on the 10-day injured list but was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 12.
While manager Pedro Grifol previously indicated that Moncada's rehab was moving slowly, Chris Getz affirmed Tuesday that the 29-year-old is tracking toward a post-All-Star break return. That timeline — an expected one — means the White Sox won't see Moncada for at least a month.
Before going on the shelf, Moncada was off to a decent start with a .282/.364/.410 slash line in 44 plate appearances across 11 games.

This lost 2024 season is likely the last hurrah for Eloy Jimenez and Yoan Moncada in Chicago.
If Jimenez heats up at the plate upon returning, the White Sox could try to shop him on the trade market, though the return would likely be of the lottery-ticket variety. Moncada will likely play out the second half of the season on the South Side before the Sox buy out his club option for 2025.
