After a turbulent stint with the Chicago White Sox to begin the season, Tim Hill has a new team. The New York Yankees are signing the left-handed reliever to a one-year deal, per ESPN's Jeff Passan .

Hill initially joined the White Sox in the offseason on a one-year, $1.8 million deal . However, the side-arming southpaw didn't pan out on the South Side as he posted a 5.87 ERA and 2.217 WHIP in 23 innings across 27 appearances. Those struggles led to the White Sox designating Hill for assignment on June 12.

Chicago eventually released the veteran hurler on Tuesday, allowing him to sign with a new team. Hill now joins a Yankees team looking to bolster its bullpen amid a wave of injuries. The Yankees currently lead the American League East, but the Baltimore Orioles are only 1.5 games back.

With Hill no longer in the mix, the White Sox have turned to Tanner Banks as their go-to lefty option out of the bullpen. Jared Shuster has also provided long relief from the left side.
