The Chicago Bulls reportedly rejected a trade offer last week for one of their star guards that would have landed Chicago an additional lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The Bulls own the No. 11 pick in this Wednesday's draft but could have added the No. 13 pick had they accepted a trade proposal from the Sacramento Kings, according to The Athletic's Anthony Slater.

Sacramento reportedly sought to acquire Chicago's two-time All-Defensive stud as they dangled its lottery pick in front of the Bulls.

"They were close to a trade for defensive ace Alex Caruso last week, according to league sources, offering the No. 13 pick to Chicago as the key chip," Slater wrote. "The Bulls, to the surprise of many within the league, instead opted to send Caruso to Oklahoma City for Josh Giddey."

It remains unclear what other assets Sacramento included alongside the No. 13 pick to try and pry Caruso away from Chicago.

Whatever the full package was, it wasn't a better return than Josh Giddey in the eyes of the Bulls' managing partnership of Artūras Karnišovas and Marc Eversley.

Karnišovas and Eversley dealt Caruso to the Thunder for Giddey on June 20 in a trade that has since  spawned many a debate about which franchise got the better end of the swap.

Many feel that Chicago lost the trade since they were unable to procure any draft capital from Oklahoma City, an organization with a wealth of picks in its arsenal.
