Braves linked to one of top available outfielders in deadline deal by insder

There is sure to be plenty of movement around the trade deadline.

There have been rumors swirling about who possibly could be moved for months already and chatter is only going to pick up even more with the deadline about a month away at this point.

Major League Baseball teams are starting to decide whether they will end up buying or selling and it's clear the Atlanta Braves will end up buying.

Atlanta could use a boost in the outfield with Ronald Acuña Jr. out and one player who was floated as an option is Chicago White Sox slugger Tommy Pham by The Athletic's David O'Brien and Jim Bowden.

"Braves get (Outfielder) Tommy Pham (and) White Sox get: (Left-handed pitcher) Riley Frey," O'Brien and Bowden said. "Pham has big-game credentials and remains a professional hitter at 36, evident by his .345 OBP and 109 OPS+ in 45 games before Thursday. He can bring the coveted and elusive 'edge' to a team that is hard to define but that players know when it arrives. A big plus for Atlanta: He's on a one-year, low-cost contract, so the outlay won't be too much, in prospects or salary, to get him as a rental player...

"Fair deal for both sides and the idea works for both teams. Pham has been dealt at the trade deadline in each of the past two years so we might as well make it three in a row."

O'Brien and Bowden proposed the hypothetical deal when discussing how the Braves could improve at the deadline. Landing Pham makes a lot of sense and Atlanta should act sooner rather than later no matter what they do.
