CHICAGO, (WTVO) — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested Daniel Pederson, 24, for allegedly threatening a courtroom with a “military-style” shooting.

This is not the first time Pederson has been arrested for making a terrorist threat. He was convicted in 2016 of threatening the Lake County courthouse.

On June 14th, Pederson passed a note to a security guard working at a Riverwalk restaurant that said there would be a mass shooting with military precision at the Lake County courthouse, according to police.

Officials said the note also made threats to a judge and a Chicago Police Officer assigned as a task force officer to the FBI.

On June 27th, the same security guard saw the suspect and called CPD. Pederson was later located and taken into custody.

A day later, the suspect was taken to the Lake County Jail. The Lake County Attorney’s Office intends to file a petition to detain him, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s media release.

Pederson is being charged with threatening a public official. Additional charges are still possible.
