2024 NBA Draft: Chicago Bulls Receive A Strong Grade

With the 2024 NBA Draft finished, what grade did the Chicago Bulls receive for their selection?

In the 2024 NBA Draft, the Bulls only had one draft pick over two days. As a team that perhaps has underachieved in recent years with some talented and big-name players on the roster, the Bulls have a very interesting offseason ahead of them.

In the draft, the Bulls selected Matas Buzelis with the 11 ^th overall pick. It was a bit of a surprise to see Buzelis still on the board here, but that worked in the favor of the Chicago Bulls. Recently, ESPN handed out their grade for the Bulls’ 2024 NBA Draft. Here’s what they had to say .

Chicago Bulls: B+

Round 1: Matas Buzelis (No. 11)

In one of the first round’s most memorable moments, Buzelis and his family were overcome by emotion after the Chicago native was drafted by his hometown team. I wasn’t quite as high on Buzelis as our draft scouts, who had him No. 5 in their final top 100, but it’s hard to argue with the value here.

Getting Buzelis with the 11 ^th pick seems like an excellent value pick for the Bulls. Many scouts outside of ESPN had him as a Top-5 prospect, so the Bulls made the easy decision to bring the hometown kid home with the 11 ^th pick.

Now while they appeared to get excellent value in the draft, all of the attention for the Bulls will turn to what they are going to do with DeMar DeRozan. The DeRozan era in Chicago hasn’t been anything spectacular, but letting him walk in free agency would indicate that the Bulls are going to be going into a rebuild or a retool.

Also, it appears like the team would like to move on from Zach Lavine, but despite his name being frequently mentioned in rumors, he is still on the team. Regardless of what happens next in the offseason for the Chicago Bulls, they made a nice choice in Buzelis at 11 in the 2024 NBA Draft.
