    Woman critical after fire in Little Village; Police investigating

    CHICAGO —  Two people were hospitalized Monday following a fire in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.

    Emergency crews responded to reports of a fire in the 2400 block of South Sawyer around 7:40 p.m. Monday.

    Once on scene, officers removed a 60-year-old female from the second floor and took her to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition for smoke inhalation.

    Police say a second victim, a 62-year-old male was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

    The Chicago Fire Department extinguished the fire and upon further investigation determined it was an arson.

    At this time, no one is in custody.

    No word on any other injuries.
