(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Alexander’s Diner, a restaurant in Chicago’s North Side Edgewater neighborhood, is trying to recover after a car crashed through the building in June.

According to a recently created GoFundMe , the family that owns Alexander’s Diner at North Clark Street is hoping to raise $20,000.

The crash happened in June. Police said a man was driving along Clark Street when he ran a red light at Granville Avenue, hit a car and then plowed into the diner.

Alexander’s was closed at the time. No one was injured in the crash, but it did force the restaurant to close indefinitely.

In its GoFundMe post, the family wrote that any donations will help them cover the cost of lost goods and “ensure that our incredible staff can still receive their paychecks while we are closed.”

“Alexander's Diner has always been more than just a place to eat; it's a community hub where memories are made over hearty meals and friendly smiles,” they wrote. “Thank you for your generosity and support during this hard time. We look forward to welcoming you back to Alexander's Diner soon.”
