CHICAGO — Saturday’s weather was spectacular for the NASCAR Chicago Street Race, particularly when compared to the deluge racers and fans dealt with during the inaugural event one year ago.

A few very minor sprinkles popped up throughout Chicagoland on Saturday, but for the most part conditions were comfortable.

The city’s high temperature recorded at O’Hare International Airport came in at 83 degrees. The low was 64. Midway International Airport checked in with a high of 85 and a low of 66. The record high temperature for this date was set in 2012 when the mercury hit 103 degrees. The record low for this date was 46 degrees set 41 years ago.

Looking ahead, the area will stay mainly clear. There’s another rainmaker out to the west that should reach the area Sunday. We’ll start Sunday with plenty of sunshine before clouds increase in the afternoon.

    SATURDAY

Sun & clouds with slight chance of PM sprinkle. A bit cooler — especially by the lake. NNW/NNE 5-10 mph

Temperatures: High 80, mid 70s lakeside

    SATURDAY NIGHT

Partly to mostly cloudy & comfortable temps. ESE/S 5-10 mph

    Temperatures: Low 65

    SUNDAY

Mostly sunny & warmer with chance of iso. PM t’storms. S 5-15 mph

    Temperatures: High mid 80s

We’ll start out the work week with more clouds and temps in the muggy mid 80s for the first several days. Each day has a chance of isolated showers/t’storms each afternoon/evening.
