Angel Reese Sends Emotional Message To WNBA All-Star Teammate

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is headed to the WNBA All-Star game July 20th in Phoenix, Arizona. Her soon-to-be teammate, Dearica Hamby of the Los Angeles Sparks, shared high praise for the rookie on ESPN, and Reese came back with an emotional response on X.

"I'm excited to play with Angel, you know. I think we both have really high motors and we kind of play similar. So, excited to play alongside her," said Hamby via Joshua Sanchez on X.

Reese then responded with a simple message to Hamby, showing her appreciation for the WNBA veteran.

"Can’t wait to see you & play wit you D!" said Reese via X.

Reese and the Sky picked up an 88-84 victory against the Seattle Storm on Friday. The rookie out of LSU finished the game with a career-high 27 points to go along with 10 rebounds and two assists.

She's averaging 13.9 points and 11.7 rebounds, being the only rookie to average a double-double. Reese's 11.7 rebounds per game puts her at No. 1 in that category in the WNBA, with A'ja Wilson coming in at No. 2 with an average of 10.9 rebounds through the season.

Hamby's message to Reese shows the level of respect and admiration the rookie has garnered all season. Reese and the Sky have been known as one of the grittiest teams in the league, and the first-year star has been Chicago's anchor.
