Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese made WNBA history against the Seattle Storm on Sunday. The Sky suffered a brutal 84-71 loss, but Reese's 17 points and 14 rebounds helped her notch her 13th straight double-double of the season. Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon spoke on Reese's WNBA record after the game.

Weatherspoon shared a blunt take about Reese's priorities, revealing the rookie's true goals while competing with Chicago. She shared high praise for the first-year star, but Weatherspoon explained that the end goal for any matchup is adding another number to the win column.

"She's not out there to break records and all of that, she's out there to go help this team win," said Weatherspoon via Marquee Sky on X.

Reese surpassed Candace Parker's 12 consecutive double-doubles, which she recorded across the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

The 6-foot-3 forward went into the match as the only rookie averaging a double-double with 13.9 points and 11.7 rebounds. Reese is No. 1 in the WNBA in terms of average rebounds and No. 2 in points for all rookies behind Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who averages 16.1.

Reese has been vocal about her relationship with Weatherspoon all season. She believes falling to No. 7 in the 2024 WNBA draft was a blessing in disguise due to the Sky's coaching staff and roster.

The rookie has been seen embracing Weatherspoon off the court as she's turned into one of the best players on both ends of the floor for the first-year head coach.
