(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — There’s another fatal incident to report in Lake Michigan. It comes one day after a 15-year-old was rescued after nearly drowning at north suburban beach.

On Saturday morning, a 38-year-old man pulled from the lake at or near the 31st Street Beach. The Chicago Police Department said officers were called there just before 5 a.m.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances are unclear. Police said detectives are conducting a death investigation, pending autopsy results.

On Friday night, a 15-year-old girl was hospitalized after a near-death incident in Lake Michigan.

Witnesses told first responders, the girl had gone into the lake and went under and never surfaced. They pointed out where she was last seen.

Members of the Beach Park and Winthrop Harbor Fire Departments started a search around 5:45 p.m. Neighboring departments were also called out to help.

Rescue divers found the 15-year-old and removed her from the water. When the girl was located she had no pulse.

The fire department says she was being transported to Vista Medical Center in Waukegan when they got her pulse back.

It's unknown how long she had no pulse or how long she had been under water.

According to the Great Lakes Surf Rescue project, 20 people have died in Lake Michigan incidents this year. Of those 20, 13 have been in the Chicago area.
