Chicago Sky Star Reveals Harsh Reality On Team's Struggles

    By Max Escarpio,

The Chicago Sky picked up their second straight loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday, falling 81-67 at home. Following the loss, Chicago star Marina Mabrey shared her honest take on the team's struggles.

Chicago has gone 5-5 in its last 10 games, losing three of its last four contests. On Saturday, the Sky really struggled taking care of the ball, committing 17 turnovers compared to the Liberty's five.

"Everyone can kind of be a better version of themselves, so I think that works... This team is new…we need to gel together and keep practicing," Mabrey said.

Mabrey finished the loss to the Liberty with a team-high 21 points while adding 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Mabrey explained that the team needs to focus on gelling together, which is a difficult task when two of their most important players are rookies.

Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso serve as the Sky's anchors in the painted area. Reese finished the loss against the Liberty with eight points and 16 rebounds, while Cardoso posted six points and five rebounds.

The Sky have struggled with consistency throughout the 2024 season. Most recently, they have allowed over 80 points in four of the last five games.

While they've been able to compete at a high level in the first half, the Sky's inexperience has deterred their development.
