Steamy, stormy Sunday with feel like temps in triple digits in Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) —After a morning storm on Sunday in parts of Illinois and Indiana, Chicago will experience heat that will feel like triple digits.

A weather alert is in place for heat and storm threats. On Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Will County, Illinois, that lasted until 9:30 a.m. The warning was also issued for parts of Indiana, including Newton, Jasper, Lake, and Porter Counties, until 10:30 a.m. with wind gusts of up to 60 mph and storms moving southeast at 45 mph.

A Flood Watch is in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday.

The heat builds into the 90s again during the midday. The heat index is in the upper 90s, near 100 degrees. There is a storm threat this evening, with all hazards possible.

The peak of heat will be Monday, with a heat index of 100-105 degrees and a severe threat late in the day.
