K.C. Johnson: Zach LaVine's best chance to get traded away from Bulls is to 'be professional, play well'

(670 The Score) With most NBA teams having finished their offseason business and the trade market for Bulls guard Zach LaVine remaining quiet, it’s appearing more likely that LaVine will still be a member of the organization when Chicago’s players report to training camp in late September.

If that’s the case, it will create an awkward environment as both LaVine and the Bulls agree that a change of scenery for him is best for all involved. So if it does come to that, what should everyone expect out of LaVine?

“Zach’s best way to get out of here, if that’s ultimately what he wants, is to come in, be professional, play his ass off, play well – and that will help increase his value,” K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Tuesday morning.

“I expect Zach to come in and be professional.”

The Bulls continue to shop LaVine on the trade market, but they haven’t found a deal to their liking. Moving him is important because it will pave the way for their youngsters to have bigger roles and more opportunity.

“It’s going to be an ongoing storyline throughout the season, obviously, until he’s dealt,” Johnson said. “And I think it’s going to be pretty bumpy at times along the way.”
