KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – East Noble graduate Brayden Risedorph will likely begin his professional baseball career, as the 6-foot-3 righty is planning on signing with the Chicago Cubs organization after being picked in the 20th round of the 2024 MLB Draft earlier this week.

Risedorph, who just finished his sophomore season at Indiana University, could have opted to return to school and attempt to raise his draft stock in the future. However, the the 602nd pick decided to forgo his final two seasons in Bloomington and start his journey as a pro.

He’s planning to fly out to the Cubs training facility in Mesa, Arizona this week to negotiate the details of his contract.

Risedorph just finished his sophomore season for the Hoosiers this past spring. He tallied a 4-7 record with a 8.31 ERA, but did strike out 57 batters over 47.2 innings with 2 saves.

As a freshman, the northeast Indiana native went 3-1 with a 4.48 ERA and a team-best 6 saves. He struck out 60 batters in 52.1 innings and was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
