Yankees reportedly 'not that into' blockbuster trade for White Sox ace

The New York Yankees have a few areas to address ahead of the MLB trade deadline, but it appears adding Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet isn't on the list.

According to Jon Heyman of The Post , the Yankees reportedly "are not that into" making a blockbuster trade for the All-Star lefty.

Whether Heyman means the Yankees aren't into Crochet as a player or the thought of sending the farm to acquire him isn't clear.

It's difficult to imagine the Yankees not wanting the type of pitcher Crochet is. It would be more likely they aren't into the idea of sending a boatload of top prospects for the 25-year-old.

The 27-71 White Sox are surely to be sellers at the July 30 deadline, and there very well could be a bidding war for Crochet. The Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles also have been linked as potential suitors.

Crochet's innings limit will be a hot topic of debate considering he logged 74 career innings leading into the 2024 season. He's already at 107.1 innings for the 2024 season, leading the way with 150 strikeouts to go along with a 3.02 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP.

Crochet would certainly help the Yankees both now and in the future so it will be interesting to see if this report stays true as the deadline approaches.
