White Sox Injury Update: Jimmy Lambert to Begin Rehab Assignment

Chicago White Sox pitcher Jimmy Lambert is taking the next step in his recovery from a significant shoulder injury. Per multiple reports , the right-hander will begin a rehab assignment Friday with the White Sox' Arizona Complex League affiliate.

Lambert hasn't thrown an MLB pitch since Sept. 3, 2023 as a right ankle injury cut his season short. The 29-year-old suffered another setback in Spring Training as a right rotator cuff strain forced him to begin the 2024 season on the 60-day injured list.

A fifth-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, Lambert has appeared in 83 games across parts of four seasons with the White Sox. The California native owns a 4.33 ERA and 1.495 WHIP with 98 strikeouts against 50 walks in 99.2 innings pitched at the big-league level.

The White Sox are expected to be major sellers at the MLB trade deadline, meaning several pitchers could depart Chicago. While the 2024 campaign is a lost season on the South Side, the Sox will need arms to cover innings down the home stretch. Barring further injury setbacks, Lambert and fellow rehabbing hurlers Matt Foster and Davis Martin should be in line to pick up innings as the White Sox enter the dog days of summer.
