The Chicago Sky has announced its intention to open a new training facility, which is expected to be ready by Dec. 2025. The $38 million performance center will be constructed in Bedford Park, Illinois, giving players and team personnel a chance to be closer to Wintrust Arena in the Southside community area of Chicago.

Their previous practice facility was located over 40 miles away from their home arena. The Sky held daily practices at the Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield, Illinois.

WNBA fans seemed extremely excited about the news, especially with the Sky having a couple of young stars who can help lead the team, such as Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, and Chennedy Carter.

"This is the Angel Reese Effect," said one fan.

"Can’t believe Angel went to dinner w/owners and now a few days later the team is getting a long awaited practice facility," said another fan.

"It needed to be done and it took Angel to get the job done & finalize it lol," commented another.

WNBA fans shared high praise for Reese, given her ability to help Chicago grow. The team played in the recreation center for over a decade, so many fans believe Reese was the leading factor in change for the franchise.

Since arriving in Chicago just a few months ago, Reese has helped the Sky's popularity skyrocket. According to TMZ , the LSU rookie has the second-highest-selling jersey in the league behind Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

She has immense stardom on and off the court, having over eight million followers combined on Instagram, TikTok, and X.

The first-year star is currently battling for the league's Rookie of the Year Award , averaging 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Clark is the other contender, but Reese's consistency throughout the season may give her the edge.

Reese recently secured a WNBA record for the most consecutive double-doubles at 15 straight, surpassing Candace Parker, who recorded 12 straight double-doubles from the 2009-10 seasons.

Her influence on the Sky has been evident on the hardwood, but it's clear that she's also been able to help spark change off the court.
