WNBA, Team USA Superstar Reveals Why She Didn't Want to Play With Chicago Sky, Angel Reese

Before the 2024 WNBA Draft, the Chicago Sky were predicted by multiple analysts to finish in last place in the league standings.

Yet, 25 games into their 2024 campaign, the Sky are 10-14 and would make the playoffs if the season ended today.

Yet, while the Sky had a great 2024 Draft and have exceeded expectations thus far, they're not going to win a WNBA championship this season.

But that may have changed if they'd signed hometown superstar Jewell Loyd this past offseason.

Loyd is a Seattle Storm superstar who was a 2024 WNBA All-Star and member of Team USA's Paris Olympics roster.

She also grew up less than an hour away from Chicago.

While Loyd (who led the WNBA in points per game last season) was a free agent in the offseason, the Chicago Tribune noted today why Loyd didn't consider signing with Chicago.

"Jewell Loyd cited the Sky’s outdated accommodations and a lack of spending as key factors informing her decision to re-sign with the Storm last offseason," the article wrote.

Yet, the Sky have announced a new $38 million practice facility that will be completed by December 2025.

Loyd signed a two-year with Seattle in September 2023. Perhaps a homecoming is still in store.
