White Sox have MLB’s biggest trade deadline bait

The most action revolves around the White Sox , who are threatening the 1962 Mets record for futility but still have great trade candidates and may have the best sale.

All-Star reliever-turned-starter Garrett Crochet has been seen as pretty likely to go. However, as The Post reported, Crochet’s plan is to keep starting for the White Sox (or whomever acquires him) for health maintenance purposes but only to pitch in October if there’s an extension.

You can’t blame the superb reliever-turned-starter with one Tommy John on his ledger, considering he’s already up from 12 ²/₃ innings in 2023 to 111 ¹/₃ on a league-leading 21 starts and 157 K’s, for being concerned about his heath.

The Dodgers and the Padres, who were aggressive early, are among many interested teams.

White Sox star OF Luis Robert has a chance to go, too, but they’ll require a haul, which may not be forthcoming

The White Sox are telling folks they won’t trade Erick Fedde unless they are bowled over. He’s a value play at $7.5 million.

Paul DeJong has been playing 3B. Could he be a Yankee fit? Jonathan India and Luis Rengifo also would work.

The biggest key for the Yankees just might be returns for Giancarlo Stanton (perhaps within a week) and rookie Jasson Dominguez (two weeks).

The Astros see Isaac Paredes as good fit since he could play first now, then replace Alex Bregman, who may leave via free agency , the next three years. …

These teams could turn MLB trade deadline from dud to frenzy

The Pirates are considering Jazz Chisholm and Taylor Ward. The Mariners and Yankees also like Chisholm. …

While the Reds are shopping mid-rotation starter Frankie Montas, they remain very reluctant to deal versatile infielder (and team leader) India, who’d interest the Yankees. …

A Josh Bell return to the Pirates might make sense.

The Phillies seek a righty-hitting OF. Tommy Pham is on their list. Ward, Kevin Pillar, Lane Thomas, Mark Canha and Brent Rooker are other righty OFs who could move, and switch-hitter Ian Happ.

Cody Bellinger has been rumored for Philly, but for now they seem focused on slightly less costly righty hitters.

Rooker has three years to go, but one exec suggested he’s a little more likely to go than 103.7 mph-throwing Mason Miller (though still not likely).

The Padres could be in the market for a catcher, so Elias Diaz is a possible fit. …

The Royals are in touch with the Angels, and any of Ward, Rengifo, Carlos Estevez and Luis Garcia could make sense for K.C.

The Red Sox have some interest in James Paxton, a surprise Dodgers DFA.

Boston is right to bring back Alex Cora , who goes from $3M to $7.25M. Which shows that Craig Counsell’s $8M-a-year contract helped a lot more than the World Series win.
