(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Family and friends of a Black transgender woman from Chicago, who disappeared while visiting the Bahamas more than a month ago, have launched a fundraiser as they continue to look for answers.

Taylor Casey was reported missing on June 20, as she was visiting a yoga retreat in the Bahamas.

Casey's mother, Colette Seymore, claims police there continue to withhold information about the case.

“Justice needs to be served, or done in this case ,as to why Taylor goes for a vacation to a yoga retreat to learn yoga and just vanishes in midair,” Seymore said.

Seymore says she continues to believe that Casey's disappearance is not being investigated as thoroughly as it could be, because her daughter is a Black transgender woman.

Seymore says a fundraiser called "Find Taylor Casey" on various social media platforms has raised tens of thousands of dollars to help pay for legal services and other needs related to the family's search for answers.

The fundraiser can be viewed here .

    The fundraiser's goal is $100,000.
