Newly acquired Bears Pro Bowler named by peers as top player in NFL

One of the newest additions to the Chicago Bears has been named one of the best players in the National Football League by his peers.

2024 looks to be a new start for the Bears. In the NFL Draft, Chicago focused on offense, drafting quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick and wide receiver Rome Odunze with the No. 9 pick.

While most eyes are on the newest players in the league, Chicago has also brought in some talented veterans, including wide receivers DJ Moore and Keenan Allen .

A member of the Los Angeles Chargers for 11 years, Allen has been to the Pro Bowl six times and was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2017. Now, he has been ranked No. 51 on NFL.com's list of the Top 100 Players of 2024 , as decided by current players in the league.

"At times in 2023, it felt as if Allen might have been the only wide receiver on the field catching passes for the Chargers, such was his dominance and status as Justin Herbert's preferred target," Coral Smith said.

"Allen had 1,243 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, both the second-best totals in his career. His 150 targets and 108 receptions were double those of any of his teammates and both ranked top 10 in the league."

2024 marks a ton of changes for the veteran receiver. A new team, a new quarterback, and a new receiver room with tons of talent could mean fewer touches for Allen. But if last season is any indication, Allen still has plenty of gas left in the tank.
