Gymnast Simone Biles is the favorite to win the all-around competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics and will compete for the team gold alongside Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera.

Helping fuel her epic comeback to the sport after a tumultuous finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the love and support of her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens.

The Bears excused Owens from mandatory training camp to go watch Biles compete in Paris in person. Speaking to reporters after practice on July 24, Owens said the time off was negotiated when he first signed with the team back in March.

Owens, who married Biles last year, also revealed he shares a special pregame ritual with Biles that can only be done in person.

Before each event -- the uneven bars, beam, floor, and vault -- he helps his wife mentally prepare, Owens explained to Bears' reporter Gabby Hajduk . She finds Owens in the crowd and they lock eyes, a ritual that calms both Biles and himself.

Owens makes it easy for Biles to find him in the crowd, as he always sits with her family. Out of superstition, they also always sit in the same order.

"I'm acting like I'm at a football game," Owens said of being her No. 1 cheerleader. "I'm sure the people behind me are like, 'Oh my gosh.' Because usually, gymnastics etiquette is just a little soft clap. But, yeah, me and her sister were always the loudest ones in there."

Owens flies to Paris on July 29, in time to watch the women's team final on July 30, and will stay through the individual all-around competition on August 1.

The 29-year-old safety, who's never been to Paris, admitted that it's both "nerve-wracking" and exciting watching Biles compete. “It’s the person you love most, man, and you see them out there in a position where someone could get hurt and you care,” Owens said.

“I’m just holding my breath and I have my little piece of paper right there ready calculating everything so I can’t wait."
