(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago-based organization has announced major grants to promote art, cultural awareness and land conservation.

The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation focuses its charitable work in the Chicago area and the lowcountry of South Carolina.

The foundation has announced $3.6 million in funding for organizations that support artistic vitality, broadening narratives and the preservation of natural and farm land.

Nearly $3 million of that money will be shared by 53 organizations in the Chicago area.

The foundation said the work of these groups speaks to our humanity, the art that inspires us, the narratives that shape us, and the land that sustains us.
