WNBA Legend Seimone Augustus Holds Nothing Back About Angel Reese

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has been one of the more surprising players in the 2024 WNBA season. After being chosen as the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, the former LSU Tiger dealt with some critics who questioned how her game would translate to the league, and not many expected her to perform as well as she has so far.

Even WNBA legend Seimone Augustus, who is now an assistant coach at LSU, would say the same thing about how Reese came into the league with some criticism but has proved many doubters wrong.

In a recent interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio , Augustus did just that as she joined Holly Rowe for an interview to discuss the impact the current rookies have had on the WNBA, including Reese.

"But when I think about Angel (Reese), obviously, there's so much criticism coming in surrounding whether she would be able to do the same thing she did on the collegiate level. And I think she's proven that to us by breaking a double-double record, you know, staying consistent on top of her game," Augustus said.

Like Reese, Augustus is an LSU alumna who played for the Tigers from 2002 to 2006. She was drafted No. 1 overall by the Minnesota Lynx in 2006 and spent most of her career there. She was an eight-time WNBA All-Star and four-time champion.

As Augustus mentioned, Reese broke the record for the longest double-double streak in WNBA history, surpassing Candace Parker's record of 12 and tallying a total of 15 before it ended. She also made the All-Star team in her first season.
