The Chicago Red Stars continued to add international talent to their roster during the current transfer window.

Chicago announced Monday that it's agreed to a deal with Brazilian forward Ludmila to a deal through the 2026 NWSL season after acquiring her from Atlético Madrid in Spain.

Ludmila, 29, will join the Red Stars once her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate after her time with Brazil at the Summer Olympics concludes early next month.

“I have had the pleasure of watching Ludmila’s game for years,” said Red Stars general manager Richard Feuz in a release. “There is a clear level of talent that has helped Ludmila find success on the pitch, individually as a goal scorer and as a part of Atlético with their championships. I look forward to seeing Ludmila come in and contribute to the Red Stars as we enter the second half of the season and push for playoffs.”

The forward joins the Red Stars after making 159 appearances with the Spanish side since joining from São José in Brazil in 2017.

Ludmila is now the second addition for the Red Stars in this transfer window after the club agreed to a deal with Julia Grosso earlier this month.

The Red Stars have desperately needed more attacking options alongside Mallory Swanson. Ludmila, should she return to the form she’s displayed in past years, could be the perfect strike partner with Chicago’s No. 9.
