The Chicago Blackhawks have signed both of their remaining restricted free agents. After agreeing to terms with Lukas Reichel early in the offseason, defensemen Isaak Phillips and Louis Crevier were the final players needing new contracts. On Monday, both players agreed to one-year, two-way deals for $775,000. With these transactions, all Blackhawks players expected to return are under contract for 2024-25.

Both defensemen had cups of coffee with the Hawks during the 2023-24 campaign. Phillips also saw time during the 2022-23 season, playing 16 games and registering five points. Last season, Phillips played 33 NHL games and recorded six assists . Even with some top-level experience under his belt, he's best suited to develop further in Rockford in 2024-25.

As for Crevier, he managed to suit up in 24 games for the Blackhawks. The 6-foot-8 defenseman tallied three assists after debuting in early December. Like Phillips, Crevier will have more time to develop in Rockford this coming season.

For both defensemen, the 2024-25 campaign will be an important season. Given Chicago's strong organizational depth on the blue line, both must prove they're worth keeping around for the future. Even if they're best profiled as sixth or seventh defensemen, a season of proper growth and improvement could help keep them in the fold for seasons to come.

Now that the Blackhawks have inked their two outstanding restricted free agents, Kyle Davidson is likely done with offseason transactions. There's always a chance for a move closer to the start of the season, but the Blackhawks essentially have their roster set entering training camp.
