Reports: White Sox trade Tanner Banks to Phillies for No. 11 prospect

CHICAGO — In their third and final trade deadline deal of the day, the Chicago White Sox traded left-handed reliever Tanner Banks to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for their No. 11 prospect, according to multiple reports.

First reported by FanSided’s Robert Murray with Yahoo Sports’ Russell Dorsey coming through on further trade details, the White Sox are sending Banks to the Phillies in exchange for 19-year-old shortstop William Bergolla.

Ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect in Philadelphia’s minor league system according to MLB.com , Bergolla is the son of William Bergola Sr. who played breifly with the Cincinnati Reds in 2005, and was MLB.com’s fourth-rated international prospect in 2022 before he signed with the Phillies for $2.05 million.

Standing at 5-foot-9-inches tall and weighing 165 pounds, Bergolla is a left-handed hitter who throws with his right arm, and had scouting grades of 55 (hit), 40 (power), 50 (run), 50 (arm) and 50 (field).

Banks posted a 2-2 record with a 4.13 ERA in 41 games with a pair of saves in 48 innings pitched for Chicago in 2024. He also notched 55 strikeouts against 15 walks for the White Sox this season.

The MLB trade deadline passed this evening at 5 p.m. CT.

The Chicago White Sox take on the Kansas City Royals Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. CT at Guaranteed Rate Field.
