Jonathan Owens has shared his pride of witnessing his wife Simone Biles lead Team USA to victory on Tuesday evening - seeing her become the nations most decorated decorated gymnast in the sports history.

Owens had made the eight-hour trip from Chicago after he was given the greenlight to leave the Bears' training camp which had begun just last week - being able to witness Biles in action.

Biles put in another incredible performance in the team performances with the USA scoring 171.296 with the 27-year-old leading the nation to a dominant victory.

Owens was seen in the stands as he got up and celebrated when Biles took to the stag and received her model on the podium, as well as posting images with her afterwards while wearing her newest gold medal as they shared a kiss for their millions of followers.

Writing on social media after witnessing Biles win another gold medal, Owens shared: "Witnessing history every time you step on the mat. Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!

"Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it."

Biles won her fifth Olympic gold medal in the Team all-around portion of the games, with the opportunity to win four further potential golds - after making the finals in the the all-around, vault, balance beam, and floor finals - while not taking part in the uneven bars.

It is unclear on whether Owens will remain in Paris to witness Biles continue to compete in her further events, after he was given a special clearance from his NFL team to miss an important period of their training camp.

Owens left the Green Bay Packers to join division rival Bears, signing on a two-year contract where he'll hope to see significant playing time amongst the starters in their exciting young roster.

However, the Bears had long known that Owens would be away from the team after he was believed to agree to this with the Bears before signing his two-year deal earlier this offseason. The Bears will play their first preseason game this week, which would have been a big opportunity for Owens to cement his spot and role with the team.
