Bill O’Reilly Gives Scathing Review of Trump NABJ Appearance: ‘Alienated Millions of Black Voters’

Donald Trump “blew it” during his appearance at a National Association of Black Journalists event in Chicago, according to Bill O’Reilly .

The former Fox News host joined NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday evening to review Trump’s Q and A session the same day. The former president has been earning backlash for multiple statements and contentious exchanges at the conference, including claiming that Vice President Kamala Harris “turned Black.”

O’Reilly said the moment for Trump is the “same thing” as his testy exchange with Megyn Kelly in 2015, and he accused journalist Rachel Scott of opening the event “with an agenda” by “throwing everything in the world” at Trump in her opening.

“She wanted to set a tone,” he said.

Both the journalist and former president “blew it,” he added.

“Rachel Scott blew it, Donald Trump blew it, and the happiest person in the country tonight is Kamala Harris. She’s sitting there cackling, saying, look at this, look at Trump, he’s just alienated millions of Black voters who aren’t going to get what really happened there,” O’Reilly said.

He went on to offer a more positive review of Harris’s speech in Atlanta the same day. While O’Reilly called the speech “very, very good,” he also accused the vice president of being “deceptive” for saying Trump did not agree to debate her.

“This will be looped over and over and over again, more people will think he’s a racist, and Kamala Harris is going, hey, look at me! Kamala Harris gave a very, very good speech in Atlanta. Very smooth. Very under control. Totally deceptive speech. Totally deceptive. No media outlet called her on it. She said Trump refused to debate her. That’s not true. Trump gave her a little jazz,” he said.

O’Reilly offered some explanation of Trump’s point when he questioned Harris’s ethnicity.

“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black,” Trump said at the conference. “So I don’t know, is she Indian, or is she Black? I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn, she went — she became Black. Somebody should look into that.”

O’Reilly told Cuomo Trump failed to articulate the point that Harris “is a phony.”

“The broadside against Kamala Harris is that she’s a phony, that she used one bit of ethnicity to do this, one bit of ethnicity to do that, but Trump didn’t articulate it,” he said.
