Police charge felon for killing deputy

Chicago police have announced charges against a man in the shooting death of a Cook County Sheriff’s deputy. Deputy Rafael Wordlaw was off-duty when he was killed earlier this week during a robbery. Police said 32-year-old Cordarrow Thompson, a convicted felon, has been charged with several felonies, including murder. Police said after the shooting, Thompson took himself to two separate hospitals for treatment under a false name. According to authorities, Thompson tested positive for gunshot residue and blood evidence at the scene was a DNA match.

    Crash details released

The National Transportation Safety Board has released new information on its investigation of the deadly Greyhound bus crash near Highland on July 12, 2023. Three passengers were killed and a dozen others were injured when the bus collided with three tractor trailers parked along the shoulder of I-70. According to internal records from Greyhound, the driver, Raymond Paradise, was in four other crashes prior to the Highland crash.

Former congressman goes to U.S. Chamber

Former Republican Congressman Rodney Davis has been hired as head of governmental affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Davis was elected to Congress in 2012 representing a district that included parts of Central Illinois. Two years ago, he lost a GOP primary race in the newly drawn 15th District to U.S. Rep. Mary Miller. Davis will start his new job this month.
