In 2023, Chicago Bears' standout Jaylon Johnson earned a Second-Team All-Pro selection, a Pro Bowl nod, and the highest PFF ranking for any cornerback in the NFL. Despite those accolades, Johnson was nowhere to be found on the recently released NFL Top 100 list .
When asked about the omission, Johnson didn't hold back from sharing his authentic opinions.
"It's bull----," said Johnson. "There ain't no way. I don't know how you make Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and not [be] a Top 100 guy. I could've been 101 I guess, but [expletive], Aaron Rodgers didn't even play in the season and he was voted [in]."
Last season was a breakout campaign for Johnson, who totaled 36 tackles , four interceptions, and one defensive touchdown, solidifying himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league . His snub from the Top 100 while other players with less impressive seasons, such as Jaylen Ramsey and Tariq Woolen, were included is surprising.
There were plenty of other strange omissions from the list at the cornerback position. Premier players such as Derek Stingley Jr., Charvarius Ward, and Trent McDuffie failed to crack the Top 100.
Bears wide receiver DJ Moore was also left off the list. While stats don't tell the entire story, it's worth mentioning that Terry McLaurin earned a selection with 1,002 receiving yards, while Moore, with 1,364 receiving yards, was nowhere to be seen.
The list, to note, is voted on by players . It's not journalists and reporters who have forgotten about Johnson and Moore, but the players themselves.
But at the end of the day, the list is just that, a list. Considering Patrick Mahomes couldn't beat out Christian McCaffrey, Lamar Jackson, or Tyreek Hill for the top spot despite defeating all three as the Kansas City Chiefs marched to their latest Super Bowl victory, one shouldn't put too much stock into the list.
Here's hoping Johnson and Moore earn their deserved spots on next year's NFL Top 100 list.
