New Music - David Grisman & the Rounder Album Band, Live at Grass Valley
PORT TOWNSEND, WASH. — Acoustic Disc has announced a digital release for David Grisman & the Rounder Album Band, Live at Grass Valley. In November, 1975, David Grisman assembled a stellar cast of bluegrass characters to record his first LP for Rounder Records. The band included guitarist Tony Rice and bassist Todd Phillips of David's newly-formed Quintet, and fellow Dawg collaborators and alumni of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys — banjo innovator Bill Keith and the legendary fiddler Vassar Clements. Joining them was a teenaged bluegrass prodigy, dobro virtuoso Jerry Douglas.

Leona Egeland Rice was a pioneer first in the lobby corps, and then in the California Assembly where she served three terms ending in 1980. In this oral history interview, conducted at her home in Napa by journalist Dan Morain, she recalls how she won even though the California Democratic Party would not endorse women. Legislators—Bill Lockyer, Willie Brown, George Moscone and March Fong Eu—did support her in that first campaign in 1974.
