Chicago Chefs Cook is stepping up to support victims of Hurricane Helene, which recently claimed nearly 100 lives with more than 1000 missing as it swept through North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia. Chef Art Smith, whose hometown of Jasper, Florida, was in the storm's path, is leading the Chicago effort.

Please join Art and friends at Chicago Q on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 5:00pm-8:00pm for an unforgettable night of BBQ and treats from chefs across Chicago. Enjoy small bites and an open bar, and help support a cause near and dear to our chef community. Space is limited, so we suggest you purchase tickets in advance. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for purchase with Tap to Pay or cash only. Donations are also welcome should you be unable to attend.

Smith shared with Eater Chicago that his husband, Jesus Salgueiro, is currently in Florida providing meals to victims from a food truck, as the storm has left many without power or gas.

Smith expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support from Chicago’s culinary community, including Sarah Stegner of Prairie Grass Cafe and Fred Latsko, Smith's partner at Chicago Q and Blue Door.

According to the Eater article , although the final roster of chefs is still being confirmed, Smith revealed that he has asked Wieners Circle to create a special chicken fried dog on a biscuit for the event.

A portion of the net proceeds from this event will benefit World Central Kitchen, an organization on the ground providing aid for those in need across Florida, and a local charity in Jasper selected by Chef Art.

100% of donations are tax-deductible, and $50 of each pre-event ticket and $75 of each at-the-door ticket is tax-deductible.

Tickets and donations to support World Central Kitchen’s hurricane relief efforts are available here.
