    Chicopee opening cooling centers, splash pads and pools

    CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP)– The City of Chicopee is making efforts to help residents cool off during the expected extreme heat this week.

    Because of a heat advisory, several cooling centers and splash pads will be available for anyone seeking relief from the heat.

    Ways to stay safe during Massachusetts heat wave

    Residents can access the following cooling centers at various times in Chicopee:

    • C3 Unit Office, Chicopee Center: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM 35 Center St.
    • C3 Unit Office, Willimansett: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM 538 Chicopee St.
    • RiverMills Senior Center: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM 5 West Main Street
    • Chicopee Police Station Lobby: Open 24 hours 110 Church Street
    • Chicopee Public Library: Monday-Thursday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM 449 Front Street

    Locations and times for pools are as follows:

    • Ray Ash Pool: Open daily from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Daily Passes: Res. – $3 / Non-Res. – $5 Season Passes: Res. – $15 / Non-Res. – $25
    • Rivers Pool: Closed due to glass in the pool. Will reopen in a few days.

    Splash pads are available from 11:00AM to 7:00PM at the following locations:

    • Szot Park
    • Lincoln Grove Park
    • Wisniowski Park
    • Dana Park
    • Ray Ash Park
    • Rivers Park
    • Williams Park
    • Garrity Grove Park

    Fairview Park is closed due to the South Fairview CSO project, and Sarah Jane Park is closed for construction.
