Learn more about updates from local school districts

CHILLICOTHE— School is starting soon and if current students are anything like me over the summer you might have missed some updates regarding the school. To help catch you up here are some of the updates from local schools.

Paint Valley

• This year the open house for Paint Valley schools, which is being held on Aug. 13, will be a community event for the first time. The event will include food trucks, local vendors, community partners and more.

Adena

• High school will now be starting the day at 7:55 a.m.
• The district is welcoming a new 6-12 principal.
• A new policy will ensure students don't use cell phones during the school day.
• A new program will teach middle and high school students about mechatronics and robotics.
• Construction is expected to start this year on a new baseball diamond closer to the school.
  • The current diamond will be turned into a wellness center for students and the community.
• New bleachers and a press box have been added to the football field

Union-Scioto

• This year the high school will be implementing a new Ag program which brings several new classes to the school.

Zane Trace

• The district is welcoming a new elementary school principal.
• The school will now be offering virtual CCP classes thanks to the OUC partnership.
• All students will have access to a free lunch.
• Will be creating a Military Hall of Fame showcasing students who entered the military and got at least a Bronze Star Accommodation or higher, a Purple Heart or graduated from a service academy.

Ross County Christian Academy

• Dr. Josh Cooper will be starting as the Dean of Students, a new role taking the place of the principal role.
• A varsity golf team and varsity cheer squad will be started.
• New electives such as IT, Bible, Current events and more will be available this year,
