ABCs of Ross County: Majestic Theatre

CHILLICOTHE— From Adena Mansion to Zane's Trace Ross County is filled with a rich history. When looking at the ABCs of Ross County the M stands for Majestic Theatre.

The Majestic Theatre in downtown Chillicothe has been bringing entertainment to the Ross County area for over 150 years. From musical acts to comedy and drama shows the theatre has hosted several big-name acts over the years including Laurel & Hardy and Jason Crabb.

While the building has primarily been used for entertainment it also has a little bit of a dark history being used as a temporary morgue in the early 1900s when the Spanish Influenza spread through Camp Sherman. Hundreds of bodies were stacked in dressing rooms until they could be taken to the stage for embalming.
