Prep sports recap for Feb. 12, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Kaitlin Cassidy scored 20 points and Julia Mingus added 19 as top-ranked Notre Dame beat Kewanee, 89-26, in the semifinals of the class 2A Chillicothe regional.

The Irish will play Sherrard for the regional title Friday. Sherrard beat host IVC, 51-25, in the other semifinal.

In class 4A, Normal Community and Pekin won semifinal games and will meet in a regional title game Thursday. In class 3A, Morton and Galesburg advanced to play each other in the Galesburg regional title game while Dunlap and Lincoln moved into the Geneseo regional championship.

Other girls basketball regional semifinal winners included Canton, Dee-Mack, Abingdon-Avon, Peoria Heights, Midland, Brimfield, Illini Bluffs, Havana, Lewistown, LeRoy and Ridgeview.

In boys basketball, Fieldcrest, Tremont and Illini Bluffs won games.
