CHILLICOTHE— Recently, the local 4-H group the "Mud Crew" came together in Yoctangee Park to honor military service members being deployed overseas by tying yellow ribbons around trees near the park's entrance. Yellow ribbons symbolize support from home for American military personnel.

Parent Brandy Montgomery's oldest son is currently on his second deployment with the military so this act of service is one way she remembers and pays respect to him and what he is doing. She said often people in America forget how many people are deployed and that these over 170,000 men and women should stay in our thoughts.

"We need to remember these people," said Montgomery.

One of the group advisors Jennifer Crawford said community engagement is a core part of 4-H and doing things like tying the ribbons gets those in the club thinking about others in their community and around the world. The group often works to collect donations for local groups and better the community.
