Chillicothe officially becomes America250 Ohio Community

CHILLICOTHE — As it grows closer to July of 2026 Chillicothe continues to work with America250 to show their support for the celebration. Recently, Chillicothe City Council President Kevin Shoemaker accepted the official America250 Ohio Community Certification.

The designation marks the community as one that is officially celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Locally, several groups are working on making the anniversary year a big one for residents and visitors by creating long-term and short-term projects that showcase the history of the community and America.

Taylor Tomu with America250 said she was "so excited" to have Chillicothe be a part of the Ohio America250 project. Her goal is to have every county in the state represented in some way through this program.

"I am proud and happy to be able to present you with this official certificate," said Tomu to the group of community members gathered to plan the celebrations.
