The heat is on Chillicothe. And no, I am not talking about the 1984 Glenn Frey song from Beverly Hills Cop that I hope sticks in your mind all day because I mentioned it. I mean it is supposed to be hot in July, right? This may be the most normal month we have had all year but I see your social media posts.

I see you. You, my friends, are complaining about the heat, and to that I say stop it. You must stop. Mother Nature finally got her act together and you are going to complain? Do not anger her. We have seen what she can do. Remember a couple of months ago when it rained every day? I don’t want to see snow in July or live through three season changes in 11 hours in one day. That is exhausting. I don’t want to live a life of wearing a hoodie in the morning, stripping down to a tank top in the afternoon, and then putting the hoodie back on two hours later. That is not our best life. You can live your best life by checking out some of these cool (see what I did there) events coming up in our area.

    Thursday

Hazel's Roadshow, featuring DJ Hazel, brings the music of American Bandstand from 4 to 8 p.m. (weather permitting) lakeside in Yoctangee Park. This entertainment is free and open to the public. Cozy Inn Bar & Grill starts Music Bingo at 6:30 p.m. Trivia with me at Stockroom601 in Jackson begins at 7 p.m.

    Friday

The Gentlemen of Motown tribute band plays at the Majestic Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Performing the hits of the Temptations and the Four Tops, expect to hear hits that include "Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone," "My Girl," "Just My Imagination," "Get Ready," "I Can’t Get Next to You," "Cloud Nine, Reach Out," "Can’t Help Myself," "Baby I Need Your Loving," "Bernadette," "Walk Away Renee," "Something About You," and more. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and concessions will be available for purchase. As of press time, less than sixty tickets remain. Go to majesticchillicothe.net to purchase tickets. Tuesday

Steiner’s Craft Night begins at 7:30 pm. Folks can bring in whatever project they’re working on, or they can choose from a basket of small crafts at Steiner’s including kindness rocks to paint and leave around town, extra yarn, crochet needles, mini sewing projects etc.

    Looking ahead

More great comedy is coming your way on July 26 at The Pour House at Machinery Hall with Jeremy Johnson (Dayton) and Amber Falter (Columbus.). Hosted by me. Visit https://pour-house-at-machinery-hall-inc.square.site/ for your tickets to the ONLY rooftop comedy show in Chillicothe.

CCT’s next production, Back to the 80’s, will run July 25, 26, 27, and 28 at the Civic Theatre. From the publisher, “A pop culture trip down memory lane, Back to the 80’s tells the story of Corey Palmer and his senior year of high school: his best friends, the class bully, and the girl he loves.” Tickets may be purchased at cctoh.booktix.net

Until next time. I hope to see you out laughing.
