    CHILLICOTHE— The outdoor drama Tecumseh! is a Ross County staple drawing in local and out-of-town visitors to Sugarloaf Mountain throughout each season.

    While some people enjoy the production every year others are seeing it for the first time. If that is the case for you here are four things you might want to know about Tecumseh and his life before you watch the performance.

    Who was Tecumseh?

    Tecumseh was a Shawnee warrior and orator. He was named after the meteor that was in the sky during his birth.

    What time period was he from?

    Tecumseh was born in March of 1768 and died in October of 1813.

    Where did Tecumseh live?

    Tecumseh is estimated to have been born in what is now the Chillicothe area of Ohio but throughout his life his goals would take him around the state, to Missouri, Tennesee, Indiana and eventually Canada.

    What is the performance based on?

    The performance on Sugarloaf Mountain was written by Allan W. Eckert and is an interpretation of years of history and many battles condensed into a few hours. While it is a true story it also features some dramatization of people and events.
