This Parks and Rec program inspires a new generation of journalists in DC
WASHINGTON — A District program that continues to inspire us and make a positive impact in the lives of young people is helping us get uplifted. The Deanwood Radio Broadcast Youth Journalism program is run by the Department of Parks and Recreation in D.C., and led by director and instructor Salih Williams. Since 2007, it has delivered on its goal of engaging and educating young people in D.C. about broadcast journalism and how it can help to foster a positive outcome in their communities.

MCFRS Responds to Outlet Fire in ICU Room of Hospital Monday Morning
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to 8600 Old Georgetown Rd in Bethesda for an outlet fire in the ICU room of Suburban Hospital. According to Assistant Chief David Pazos, the small fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries. Units on scene are working to clear out any smoke before releasing property back to hospital staff.

UT alum earns position with National Symphony Orchestra
Evan Williams, a Butler School of Music alumnus, recently earned a prized position with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. Williams’ audition for the National Symphony took place over three days. He estimated the symphony invited about 200 people to audition the first day, but only 10 musicians advanced to the second day of auditions. Eventually, the orchestra whittled down its selection to Williams and one other musician.

WASHINGTON — Friends and family of a 19-year-old American University student who hasn't been since in three days are asking for the public's help in finding him. According to social media posts made by the man's roommate, Kris Emmanuel Estrada was last seen Thursday near a well-known Northwest, D.C. grocery store.
